DC's community living room. We reflect the eclecticism of our nation's capital by redefining the American cafe culture.

Tryst is known for having huge lounging sofas, eclectic art on the walls, with no corporate coffee and no matching silverware. You can stop by for a quick cup on your way to work, or you can lounge all day with a great book. Our specialty coffees and menus are favorites for regulars and tourists, and we’re famous for always serving two animal crackers with each drink.

We’re right in the center of the Adams Morgan neighborhood of DC, and we’ve proudly been a part of the community since 1998.

We build meaningful connections, one animal cracker at a time.

Amir Barnett

Artist

  • Amir Barnett is a 24-year-old self-taught artist from Washington, DC.

Amir never envisioned art playing such a crucial role in his life. In 2020, while faced with the untimely passing of his father along with the COVID-19 pandemic, Barnett turned to art to find peace during challenging and uncertain times. Surprised and inspired by his newfound artistic expression, Amir's friends and family rallied behind him to support his new artistic passion. Over the last 3 years, Barnett has watched his art practice blossom from passion projects to multiple gallery placements, a published coloring book, and WBJ 25 Under 25 designation. Amir's art has grown an international audience, gracing the continents of Europe and Asia, and his designs have been worn by NBA players, C-Suite executives, and all the like in-between. He hopes his art brings peace, happiness, and inspiration to its viewers.

A Cum Laude Biological Engineering graduate of North Carolina A&T University, Amir works as a Water Resources Engineer, gaining inspiration and peace from nature.
