Summer Drinkin’ at Tryst

This is a great time to have a drink at Tryst. Whether you're looking for interesting single origin coffees, fine estate teas, seasonally themed craft cocktails, a Tiki classic, refreshing micro-brews, quaffable but not dumbed down wines, or something completely different like Palo Cortado sherry or Carpano Antica formula vermouth, we have you covered.

Enjoy the funky notes of a Pu-erh or Lapsang Souchong tea or delicate citrus and floral notes of a  Yirgacheffe coffee. Stay cool with a cocktail involving orange, thyme, wonderfully refreshing Cocchi Americano and sparkling cava, a Michelada made with our secret recipe sangrita, a crisp Victory Summer Love ale made with tons of whole flower hops, or, maybe something with fresh melon, blackberries or cucumber.

We’ve stepped up the wine options as well. I’m a big fan of our Chemistry white blend made by the outstanding Chehalem winery in Newberg, Oregon. The Chilean Vision pinot noir by Cono Sur is also a great $10 a glass of pinot that, well, actually tastes like pinot. If you’re looking for something a little more interesting, we’re also offering the opportunity to explore the worlds of sherry, vermouth and amaro by pricing all of them in the $6-$8 range.

Don’t miss out on Tiki Tuesdays or Beer Night Thursdays as our bartenders Tim and Noah get to show off their specialties. Noah highlights one fabulous beer to run as a special every Thursday and comes prepared to educate and discuss the beer with patrons at the bar. Tuesdays, the edible orchids and copious amounts of mint come out, rums start flowing, and the carpenter’s hammer starts flying to crush some ice. Tuesdays are when Tim prepares classic Tiki drinks as well as his own concoctions such as Eustache the Monk, a potent mix involving robust rums, Chartreuse and pineapple.

I’m really proud of this menu. It presents outstanding value and quality. We believe that great drinks should be able to be had any (legal) time of day, on an old couch while wearing jeans and t-shirt, with friends, or while taking a break from work.  Washington is a great drinking town, but it’s been dominated by college kids drinking cheap stuff and wealthy politicos expensive stuff in hotel bars for too long. Here’s something for all of us.
